Citi Open: Shelton wins tight clash against Nakashima to make quarter-finals

Second seed Ben Shelton moved into the quarter-finals of the Citi Open by winning against No 13 seed Brandon Nakashima 7-6 (5), 7-6 (4) at the William H.G. FitzGerald Tennis Center in Washington on Thursday evening.
Shelton, ranked No 14, will face Canadian wildcard Denis Shapovalov next.
Ben Shelton beat qualifier Radu Albot (6-4, 6-7 (5), 6-3) in the previous round of the Washington D.C. tournament.
In the previous round of the Washington D.C. tournament, Nakashima, ranked No 54, defeated Australian Christopher O’Connell (6-2, 6-2).
