Andrey Rublev, the top seed at the Citi Open, moved into the quarter-finals by beating American Maxime Cressy, the No 13 seed, 6-4, 7-6(8) at Rock Creek Park Tennis Center in Washington, D.C. on Friday afternoon.

Rublev, ranked No 8, will play the winner of the match between ninth-seeded Dane Holger Rune and American wild card J.J. Wolf.
Ahead of his third-round victory, the Russian followed up an opening bye with a 6-4, 6-2 defeat of Jack Draper. It was still a good week for Cressy, the world No 32, who had previously posted a win over Jack Sock (4-6, 6-4, 6-0). That avenged a recent Wimbledon loss to Sock.
