Citi Open: Rublev moves into last 16
Andrey Rublev edged out Luca Van Assche 4-6, 6-3, 6-4 on Wednesday evening and will play Frenchman Arthur Rinderknech, the No 16 seed, in the next round
Russian Andrey Rublev, the top seed, advanced to the last 16 of the Citi Open by edging out Frenchman Luca Van Assche 4-6, 6-3, 6-4 at the William H.G. FitzGerald Tennis Center in Washington on Wednesday evening.
Rublev, ranked No 8, will play Frenchman Arthur Rinderknech, the No 16 seed, next.
Van Assche, ranked No 118, defeated Arthur Cazaux (6-4, 6-3) in the previous round of the Washington D.C. tournament.
