Albot crushes 45 winners to edge American Giron in Citi Open first round
Radu Albot edged out Marcos Giron 6-3, 5-7, 7-5 on Monday night and will face No 16 seed J.J. Wolf in the next round

Radu Albot edged out American Marcos Giron 6-3, 5-7, 7-5 to move into the second round of the Citi Open at Rock Creek Park Tennis Center in Washington on Monday night.
It was an excellent display of attacking tennis from both men, with Albot striking 45 winners, and Giron plundering 36 of his own. The Moldovan was brilliant at the net for the majority of the match, winning more than twice as many points with volleys than Giron.
Albot, ranked No 97, will face No 16 seed J.J. Wolf next.
