Cincinnati Masters: De Minaur wins mercurial match with Wolf

Australian Alex De Minaur won against American J.J. Wolf 6-0, 3-6, 6-1 to reach the second round of the Cincinnati Masters at the Linder Tennis Family Center on Tuesday night.

It’s not often that 6-0, 6-1 sets come either side of a 3-6 set, but that was the case in De Minaur’s first round match against Wolf, with the Australian suffering a mid-match lull, at the exact time that his opponent started firing.

The world No 12 will be thrilled to have survived the match, however, given the short turnaround for De Minaur after making the Toronto final on Sunday against Jannik Sinner.

De Minaur, ranked No 12, will play Frenchman Gael Monfils next.
