Cincinnati Masters: Tsitsipas books spot in last 16 following two tiebreakers with Shelton
Stefanos Tsitsipas needed two tiebreakers to get past Ben Shelton on Wednesday in Cincinnati. Now the Greek gets a showdown with Hubert Hurkacz.
Greek Stefanos Tsitsipas, the No 4 seed, edged American Ben Shelton 7-6 (3), 7-6 (2) to advance to the last 16 of the Cincinnati Masters at the Linder Tennis Family Center on Wednesday evening.
Tsitsipas, ranked No 4, will face the winner of the match between Pole Hubert Hurkacz and Croat Borna Coric, the No 15 seed, next.
In the previous round at the Cincinnati Masters, Shelton — ranked No 40 — edged out Christopher Eubanks (5-7, 6-4, 6-4).
