Popyrin’s luck continues with free pass into Cincinnati third round

Lucky loser Alexei Popyrin moved into the last 16 of the Cincinnati Masters after Chilean Nicolas Jarry withdrew before their second-round contest.

Popyrin, ranked No 58, will play Finn Emil Ruusuvuori next.

In the previous round, the Australian edged out German lucky loser Daniel Altmaier 6-7(5), 6-4, 6-4.

Jarry, ranked No 26, beat Russian Roman Safiullin (4-6, 6-3, 6-3) during the first round of the Cincy Open.
