Cincinnati Masters: Paul moves into last 16, sets up Alcaraz clash

American Tommy Paul, the No 14 seed, defeated Frenchman Ugo Humbert 6-1, 7-6(4) to advance to the last 16 of the Cincinnati Masters at the Linder Tennis Family Center on Wednesday afternoon.
Paul, ranked No 13, will play top-seeded Spaniard Carlos Alcaraz next. The American, who defeated Miomir Kecmanovic in the Cincinnati opening round, just beat Alcaraz in the Toronto quarter-finals last Friday night.
In the previous round of the Cincy Open, Humbert, ranked No 33, beat fellow Frenchman Arthur Fils (6-4, 3-6, 6-2).
