Norrie outlasts Alcaraz in Cincinnati quarter-finals
Cameron Norrie edged out Carlos Alcaraz 7-6(4), 6-7(4), 6-4 on Saturday night and will play Croat Borna Coric in the semi-finals. The quarter-final contest lasted more than three hours.
No 9 seed Cameron Norrie edged out Spaniard Carlos Alcaraz, the No 3 seed, 7-6 (4), 6-7 (4), 6-4 to move into the last 4 of the Cincinnati Masters at the Linder Tennis Family Center on Saturday night.
Norrie, ranked No 11, will face Croat Borna Coric next.
Ahead of his victory, Cameron Norrie defeated Dane Holger Rune (7-6(5), 4-6, 6-4), Andy Murray (3-6, 6-3, 6-4) and American wildcard Ben Shelton (6-0, 6-2).
Alcaraz, ranked No 4, won against American wildcard Mackenzie McDonald (6-3, 6-2) and Croat Marin Čilić, the No 14 seed (7-6 (4), 6-1) earlier in the tournament.
