Serb Novak Djokovic, the second seed, won against German Alexander Zverev, the No 16 seed, 7-6 (5), 7-5 to advance to the final of the Cincinnati Masters at the Linder Tennis Family Center on Sunday night.
Djokovic, ranked No 2, will play Spaniard Carlos Alcaraz, the top seed, next.
In the previous rounds of the Cincy Open, the 36-year-old Serb beat Spaniard Alejandro Davidovich Fokina (6-4, 0-0 ret.), Frenchman Gael Monfils (6-3, 6-2) and American Taylor Fritz, the No 9 seed (6-0, 6-4).
Zverev, ranked No 17, defeated Bulgarian Grigor Dimitrov (6-2, 6-2), Japanese Yoshihito Nishioka (7-5, 6-4), Russian Daniil Medvedev, the No 3 seed (6-4, 5-7, 6-4) and Frenchman Adrian Mannarino (6-2, 6-3) earlier in the tournament.
