Novak Djokovic won the final on Sunday evening against Carlos Alcaraz
Serb Novak Djokovic, the second seed, lifted the Cincinnati Masters trophy by edging out Spaniard Carlos Alcaraz, the top seed, 5-7, 7-6 (7), 7-6 (4) at the Linder Tennis Family Center on Sunday evening.
Djokovic, ranked No 2, defeated Spaniard Alejandro Davidovich Fokina (6-4, 0-0 ret.), Frenchman Gael Monfils (6-3, 6-2), American Taylor Fritz, the No 9 seed (6-0, 6-4) and German Alexander Zverev, the No 16 seed (7-6 (5), 7-5) ahead of his victory.
Earlier in the tournament, Alcaraz, ranked No 1, beat Australian qualifier Jordan Thompson (7-5, 4-6, 6-3), American Tommy Paul, the No 14 seed (7-6 (6), 6-7, 6-3), Australian qualifier Max Purcell (4-6, 6-3, 6-4) and Pole Hubert Hurkacz (2-6, 7-6 (4), 6-3).
