Borges beats struggling Mannarino at Cincinnati Masters

Portuguese qualifier Nuno Borges beat Frenchman Adrian Mannarino 6-4, 3-6, 6-1 to advance to the second round of the Western & Southern Open at the Lindner Family Tennis Center on Wednesday afternoon.

Borges, ranked No 39, will next face the winner of the match between Dane Holger Rune, the No 15 seed, and Italian wild card Matteo Berrettini.

Mannarino is now 8-22 this season and has lost nine matches in a row dating back to ‘s-Hertogenbosch. He is 1-16 in his last 17 matches.
