China Open: Medvedev races past Tommy Paul to make the second round

Daniil Medvedev breezed past the challenged of Tommy Paul with the loss of just three games, beating the American 6-2, 6-1 to advance to the second round of the China Open at the Olympic Green Tennis Center in Beijing.

It was the Russian’s first match since his loss to Novak Djokovic in the final of the US Open earlier this month.

The No 3 seed will next face Australian Alex De Minaur, in a repeat of their fourth-round encounter at Flushing Meadows.
