Chile Open: Etcheverry books spot in last four
Tomas Martin Etcheverry defeated Dusan Lajovic 6-1, 6-2 on Friday evening and will face the winner of the match between Serb Laslo Djere, the No 6 seed, and Argentinian Sebastian Baez, the No 3 seed, in the next round
Argentinian Tomas Martin Etcheverry moved into the last four of the Chile Open by defeating Serb Dusan Lajovic 6-1, 6-2 at the Club Universidad Católica de San Carlos de Apoquindo in Santiago on Friday evening.
Etcheverry, ranked No 76, will play the winner of the match between Serb Laslo Djere, the No 6 seed, and Argentinian Sebastian Baez, the No 3 seed, next.
The Argentinian won against Italian Fabio Fognini (6-1, 7-6 (1)) and second seed Francisco Cerundolo (6-3, 3-6, 6-3) ahead of his victory.
In the previous rounds of the Santiago Open, Lajovic, ranked No 75, beat Argentinian qualifier Camilo Ugo Carabelli (6-1, 6-3) and edged out Argentinian qualifier Juan Manuel Cerundolo (6-2, 2-6, 7-6 (2)).
