Chile Open: Tabilo starts fast against Darderi, into semi-finals
Alejandro Tabilo defeated Luciano Darderi 6-0, 7-5 on Friday night and will play the winner of the match between Chilean Nicolas Jarry, the top seed, and French qualifier Corentin Moutet in the next round
Chilean Alejandro Tabilo, the No 4 seed, advanced to the semi-finals of the Chile Open by winning against Italian wildcard Luciano Darderi 6-0, 7-5 at Club Universidad Católica de San Carlos de Apoquindo in Santiago de Chile on Friday night.
Tabilo, ranked No 51, will face the winner of the match between Chilean Nicolas Jarry, the top seed, and French qualifier Corentin Moutet next.
The Chilean beat Tomas Barrios Vera (6-2, 7-5) in the previous round of the Santiago tournament.
Earlier in the tournament, Darderi, ranked No 80, edged out Argentinian lucky loser Facundo Bagnis (7-6 (4), 6-7 (6), 7-6 (5)) and defeated Argentinian qualifier Juan Manuel Cerundolo (6-3, 3-6, 6-3).
