Chile Open: Qualifier Moutet upsets top seed Jarry
Corentin Moutet beat Nicolas Jarry 7-6 (5), 7-6 (3) on Friday night and will play Chilean Alejandro Tabilo, the No 4 seed, in the next round
French qualifier Corentin Moutet reached the semi-finals of the Chile Open by defeating Chilean Nicolas Jarry, the top seed, 7-6 (5), 7-6 (3) at Club Universidad Católica de San Carlos de Apoquindo in Santiago de Chile on Friday night.
Moutet, ranked No 140, will play Chilean Alejandro Tabilo, the No 4 seed, next.
The Frenchman won against Spaniard Roberto Carballes Baena, the No 7 seed (6-3, 5-7, 6-2) and Argentinian Thiago Agustin Tirante (6-3, 6-7 (5), 6-2) earlier in the tournament.
In the previous round of the Santiago tournament, Jarry, ranked No 22, beat Argentinian Federico Coria (7-6 (4), 6-2).
