Australian Christopher O’Connell reached the second round of the Chengdu Open by beating Russian qualifier Alibek Kachmazov 7-6 (3), 6-4 at the Sichuan International Tennis Center on Thursday night.
O’Connell, ranked No 53, will play Japanese Taro Daniel next.
