No 5 seed Adrian Mannarino defeated qualifier Terence Atmane 6-7 (9), 6-1, 6-3 to move into the second round of the Chengdu Open at the Sichuan International Tennis Center on Thursday.
Mannarino, ranked No 46, will play Chinese wildcard Yi Zhou next.
