Chengdu Open: Kachmazov beats Daniel to reach first ATP Tour quarter-final

Russian qualifier Alibek Kachmazov reached the last eight of the Chengdu Open by defeating Japanese Taro Daniel 7-6 (1), 6-1 at the Sichuan International Tennis Center on Friday.
Kachmazov, ranked No 252, will face the winner of the match between Chilean Nicolas Jarry, the No 3 seed, and Slovak Lukas Klein next.
In the previous round of the tournament, the 22-year-old Russian won against American Aleksandar Kovacevic (6-4, 7-6 (7)) for his first ATP Tour main draw win.
Daniel, ranked No 90, beat Italian Lorenzo Sonego, the No 6 seed (6-4, 7-5) earlier in the week.
