Chengdu Open: Daniel upsets 6th seed Sonego in first round

Japan’s Taro Daniel reached the second round of the Chengdu Open by winning against Italian Lorenzo Sonego, the No 6 seed, 6-4, 7-5 at the Sichuan International Tennis Center on Wednesday.
The Japanese player, who plays either Aleksander Kocacevic or qualifier Alibek Kachmazov next, scored his first ATP Tour-level win since April.
