Australian Christopher O’Connell won against Russian Pavel Kotov 6-4, 7-5 to advance to the second round of the Chengdu Open at the Sichuan International Tennis Center on Thursday.
O’Connell, ranked No 75, will play top seed Lorenzo Musetti next.
