Cerundolo advances to Buenos Aires final against Fonseca

It will be Francisco Cerundolo vs Joao Fonseca for the Buenos Aires title after Cerundolo defeated Pedro Martinez in straight sets on Saturday. Cerundolo was the runner-up at this event in his first ATP final in 2021.

Argentinian Francisco Cerundolo, the No 5 seed, defeated Spaniard Pedro Martinez 6-2, 6-4 to reach the final of the Argentina Open at the Buenos Aires Lawn Tennis Club on Saturday afternoon.

Cerundolo, ranked No 28, will face 18-year-old Brazilian Joao Fonseca in Sunday’s final.

Earlier in the tournament, the Argentinian won against Italian Luciano Darderi (6-4, 6-4), qualifier Juan Manuel Cerundolo (6-2, 6-3) and German Alexander Zverev, the top seed (3-6, 6-3, 6-2).

Martinez , ranked No 41, beat Bosnian Damir Dzumhur (0-6, 6-2, 7-6 (3)), Argentinian wildcard Diego Schwartzman (6-2, 6-2) and Italian Lorenzo Musetti, the No 3 seed (W/O) in the previous rounds.
