Portuguese Nuno Borges, the No 7 seed, defeated Swiss Stan Wawrinka 3-6, 7-5, 6-2 to advance to the second round of the Bucharest Open at the National Tennis Centre on Tuesday.
Borges, ranked No 55, will face Frenchman Corentin Moutet next.
