French qualifier Gregoire Barrere beat Australian Thanasi Kokkinakis 7-5, 6-3 to move into the second round of the Bucharest Open at the National Tennis Centre on Wednesday night.

Barrere, ranked No 128, will play No 3 seed Sebastian Korda next.
