Brisbane Open: Thompson edges Berrettini to reach second round

Australian Jordan Thompson, the No 8 seed, advanced to the second round of the Brisbane Open by edging out Italian Matteo Berrettini 3-6, 6-3, 6-4 at the Queensland Tennis Centre on Monday night.

Thompson, ranked No 26, will play American Alex Michelsen next.
