Dimitrov moves into third career Brisbane final

Bulgarian Grigor Dimitrov, the second seed, defeated Australian Jordan Thompson 6-3, 7-5 to advance to the final of the Brisbane Open at the Queensland Tennis Centre on Saturday.
Dimitrov, ranked No 14, will face Dane Holger Rune, the top seed, next as he seeks his first ATP Tour title since 2017.
“Of course, you want to win. Of course, you want to lift the trophy,” Dimitrov said in his press conference. “I think I’m very proud of all the other things that I’ve done so far. I think that playing on the final, that’s the reward.
“Of course, I’ll give 100% of myself. How the cards will unfold, I don’t know. All I know is that I can control my attitude the best way possible and enjoy. I need to enjoy.”
Ahead of his victory, the Bulgarian won against Andy Murray (4-6, 7-5, 6-2), German Daniel Altmaier (6-1, 6-2) and Australian wildcard Rinky Hijikata (6-1, 6-4).
Thompson, ranked No 55, won against Aleksandar Vukic (6-3, 6-2), Frenchman Ugo Humbert, the No 4 seed (W/O) and Spanish wildcard Rafael Nadal (5-7, 7-6 (6), 6-3) in the previous rounds of the Brisbane tournament.
