Novak Djokovic and Nick Kyrgios‘ doubles duty at the 2025 Brisbane International ended Wednesday (January 1) with a 6-2, 3-6, 10-8 loss to top seeds Nikola Mektic and Michael Venus in the Round of 16 at Pat Rafter Arena.

Djokovic and Kyrgios put up a spirited effort against Croat Mektic and Kiwi Venus. They hit 10 aces and landed 77 percent of their first serves in.

The No 1 seeded pair made light work of the duo in the opening set but the latter came back strongly in the second set to tie the scores. In the first-to-10-point decider, the Serbian and the Aussie raced to a 4-7 lead but Mektic and Venus stepped up to ultimately cross the finish line after an hour, 14 minutes.

Djokovic and Kyrgios bowed out of the ATP 250 tournament but not without making winning memories as they overcame the Austrian-German duo of Alexander Erler and Andreas Mies 6-4, 6-7 (4), 10-8 in the first round.
