Set to fulfil his aim for 2024, Draper ends his season

Jack Draper told Tennis Majors last year about his goal to finish 2024 inside top 20. Placed 15th in the ATP rankings with only a couple of tournaments left in the calendar, he’s bound to complete his objective

Britain’s Jack Draper has wrapped up his 2024 season. Draper announced the decision on Friday (November 1) following a fruitful couple of weeks on the ATP Tour.

The Brit showed his grit at the US Open in September by reaching the semi-finals on the back of straight-set wins against seed No 10 Alex de Minaur and others. Last week, he triumphed in Vienna to claim his second ATP title. Most recently, the 22-year-old completed a run to the Round of 16 of the Paris Masters, losing to De Minaur in a close fight on Thursday after having downed world No 6 Taylor Fritz in the previous round.

“So, my season has come to an end,” Draper wrote on Instagram after the De Minaur loss. “Want to say a big thank you to my team.. it’s an individual sport but nothing is possible without them. Also to everyone who supports me, it means so much and I really appreciate it!!! Looking forward to coming back stronger.”

In an exclusive with Tennis Majors last year, Draper had revealed his plan to finish the 2024 season inside top 20.

“With the ranking, I do have the target that I want to be in the top 20 by the end of the year. That’s the goal,” he said in November 2023.

The Brit is currently the world No 15 (career-high) on the ATP singles circuit, boasting of 2,800 points to his name, 535 clear of Frenchman Arthur Fils in 20th place. With only a couple of ATP 250 (Belgrade and Metz) remaining on the calendar and none outside the top 10 likely making the year-end championships, Draper is bound to fulfil the aim he set for himself last year.
