BMW Open: Thiem makes second round after Lestienne retirement
Dominic Thiem benefited from the abandonment of Constant Lestienne (6-3, 0-0) on Tuesday and will face Swiss Marc-Andrea Huesler, the No 8 seed, in the next round

Austrian Dominic Thiem advanced to the second round of the BMW Open when Frenchman Constant Lestienne retired on Tuesday at the MTTC Iphitos complex in Munich.
Thiem, ranked No 101, led 6-3, 0-0 when Lestienne, ranked No 60, pulled out on Tuesday at the MTTC Iphitos complex in Munich.
The Austrian will play Swiss Marc-Andrea Huesler, the No 8 seed, next.
