Italian Matteo Berrettini won against Spaniard Jaume Munar 6-4, 4-6, 6-3 to move into the quarter-finals of the Marrakech Open at Royal Tennis Club de Marrakech on Wednesday evening.
Berrettini, ranked No 135, will face Italian Lorenzo Sonego, the No 4 seed, next.
“Thank you very much to the Italians as usual for the support, today I made you suffer a little, forgive me but tennis is like that, it’s a complicated sport,” Berrettini said after his victory. “The next match will be against an Italian, so it will be more difficult to support.”

In the previous round of the Marrakech tournament, Munar, ranked No 73, beat Frenchman Luca Van Assche (7-6 (3), 6-2).
