Belgrade Open: Medjedovic books spot in quarter-finals

Serbian wildcard Hamad Medjedovic won against American Aleksandar Kovacevic 7-6 (5), 6-4 to move into the last 8 of the Belgrade Open at the Belgrade Arena on Tuesday.

Medjedovic, ranked No 156, will face the winner of the match between Argentinian Francisco Cerundolo, the No 3 seed, and Russian Roman Safiullin next.

The 21-year-old Serb defeated American Brandon Nakashima, the No 6 seed (3-6, 7-5, 6-3) in the previous round of the Belgrade tournament.

In the first round of the Belgrade tournament, Kovacevic, ranked No 101, beat Serb qualifier Branko Djuric (6-2, 6-2).
