Belgrade Open: Medjedovic advances to semi-finals

Hamad Medjedovic won against Francisco Cerundolo 6-4, 6-2 on Thursday. He’ll play Serb wildcard Laslo Djere in the next round

Serb wildcard Hamad Medjedovic advanced to the semi-finals of the Belgrade Open by winning against Argentinian Francisco Cerundolo, the No 3 seed, 6-4, 6-2 at the Belgrade Arena on Thursday.

Medjedovic, ranked No 156, will face Serb wildcard Laslo Djere next.

Ahead of his victory, the 21-year-old Serb beat American Brandon Nakashima, the No 6 seed (3-6, 7-5, 6-3) and American Aleksandar Kovacevic (7-6 (5), 6-4).

Cerundolo, ranked No 29, defeated Russian Roman Safiullin (6-4, 6-4) in the previous round of the Belgrade tournament.
