Belgrade Open: Lehecka fights back to oust Klein and reach semis
The Czech won against Lukas Klein 3-6, 7-6 (3), 6-3 in the second round on Thursday
No 4 seed Jiri Lehecka beat Slovak qualifier Lukas Klein 3-6, 7-6 (3), 6-3 to reach the semi-finals of the Belgrade Open at the Belgrade Arena on Thursday.
The Czech came from a set and 4-1 down before fighting back to claim the second set in a tiebreak and then the third with the help of a single break of serve. Klein saved five matchpoints in the eighth game of the decider before Lehecka finally converted his seventh matchpoint in the following game to complete the victory.
The Czech, ranked No 31, will face Canadian qualifier Denis Shapovalov next.
Lehecka won against Croat Marin Cilic (6-4, 7-6 (4)) in the previous round of the tournament.
Earlier in the week, Klein, ranked No 153, defeated Australian James Duckworth (6-4, 6-2) and Argentinian Tomas Martin Etcheverry, the No 7 seed (6-4, 7-6 (6)).
