Barcelona Open: Tsitsipas advances to final
Stefanos Tsitsipas won against Lorenzo Musetti 6-4, 5-7, 6-3 on Saturday and will play the winner of the match between Spaniard Carlos Alcaraz, the top seed, and No 12 seed Daniel Evans in the final
Greek Stefanos Tsitsipas, the second seed, won against Italian Lorenzo Musetti, the No 9 seed, 6-4, 5-7, 6-3 to reach the final of the Barcelona Open at Real Club de Tenis Barcelona on Saturday.
Tsitsipas continues his fine form this week, with only one set dropped. He also maintains an excellent record against Musetti, now 4-0 in their head-to-head, with three of those wins coming on clay.
He extends his lifetime record in Barcelona to 16-4, having reached the final here twice before (in 2018 and 2021, both times losing to Nadal). He has never yet won an ATP 500 title and seeks to do so on Sunday.
Tsitsipas, ranked No 5, will face the winner of the match between Spaniard Carlos Alcaraz, the top seed, and No 12 seed Daniel Evans next.
Ahead of his victory, the Greek beat Argentinian Pedro Cachin (6-4, 6-2), Canadian Denis Shapovalov, the No 14 seed (6-3, 6-2) and Australian Alex De Minaur, the No 8 seed (6-4, 6-2).
Musetti, ranked No 20, defeated Australian Jason Kubler (6-3, 6-1), No 7 seed Cameron Norrie (3-6, 6-4, 6-1) and No 4 seed Jannik Sinner (W/O) earlier in the tournament.
