Italian Francesco Passaro advanced to the second round of the Barcelona Open by winning against Spanish wildcard Fernando Verdasco 6-1, 6-1 at Real Club de Tenis Barcelona on Tuesday.
Passaro, ranked No 125, will face No 15 seed Francisco Cerundolo next.
