Barcelona Open: Norrie into last 16 after Mayot retirement
Cameron Norrie benefited from the abandonment of Harold Mayot (7-6 (3), 6-7 (6), 0-0) on Tuesday evening and will play the winner of the match between Italian lucky loser Andrea Vavassori and Spanish wildcard Roberto Bautista Agut in the next round
No 12 seed Cameron Norrie advanced to the last 16 of the Barcelona Open when French qualifier Harold Mayot retired at Real Club de Tenis Barcelona on Tuesday evening.
Norrie, ranked No 31, led 7-6 (3), 6-7 (6), 0-0 when Mayot, ranked No 116, pulled out at Real Club de Tenis Barcelona on Tuesday evening.
Cameron Norrie will play the winner of the match between Italian lucky loser Andrea Vavassori and Spanish wildcard Roberto Bautista Agut next.
The 22-year-old Frenchman defeated Argentinian Pedro Cachin (7-6 (5), 2-6, 6-3) in the previous round of the Barcelona tournament.
