Barcelona Open: Nishioka reaches last 16

Japanese Yoshihito Nishioka, the No 16 seed, defeated Belgian David Goffin 6-1, 7-5 to move into the last 16 of the Barcelona Open at Real Club de Tenis Barcelona on Wednesday.

Nishioka, ranked No 35, will face the winner of the match between Argentinian Diego Schwartzman and Italian Jannik Sinner, the No 4 seed, next.

Goffin, ranked No 99, won against Spanish wildcard Feliciano López (7-6 (3), 6-7 (4), 6-0) in the previous round of the Barcelona tournament.
