Barcelona Open: Evans books spot in quarter-finals

No 12 seed Daniel Evans defeated Russian Karen Khachanov, the No 6 seed, 6-3, 6-4 to reach the last eight of the Barcelona Open at Real Club de Tenis Barcelona on Thursday afternoon.
Evans, ranked No 26, will face the winner of the match between Norwegian Casper Ruud, the No 3 seed, and Argentinian Francisco Cerundolo, the No 15 seed, next.
In the previous round of the Barcelona tournament, Evans won against Italian qualifier Matteo Arnaldi (6-4, 6-3).
Khachanov, ranked No 11, beat Chilean Nicolas Jarry (6-4, 6-4) in the second round of the Barcelona tournament.
