Barcelona Open: Cerundolo shocks third seed Ruud to reach quarter-finals

Argentinian Francisco Cerundolo, the No 15 seed, won against Norwegian Casper Ruud, the No 3 seed, 7-6 (5), 6-3 to reach the last 8 of the Barcelona Open at Real Club de Tenis Barcelona on Thursday.
Cerundolo, ranked No 32, will play No 12 seed Daniel Evans next.
The Argentinian defeated Italian Francesco Passaro (6-2, 6-2) in the previous round of the Barcelona tournament.
In the previous round of the Barcelona tournament, Ruud, ranked No 3, won against American Ben Shelton (6-2, 7-6 (1)).
