No 13 seed Roberto Bautista Agut advanced to the last 16 of the Barcelona Open by beating Bernabe Zapata Miralles 6-2, 6-2 at Real Club de Tenis Barcelona on Tuesday.
Bautista Agut, ranked No 25, will face Spaniard Carlos Alcaraz, the top seed, next.
In the previous round of the Barcelona tournament, Zapata Miralles, ranked No 41, won against Hungarian Attila Balazs (6-2, 6-2).
