Banja Luka Open: Molcan moves into last eight
Alex Molcan edged out Alexei Popyrin 7-6 (4), 4-6, 7-5 on Wednesday. He’ll play Serb Laslo Djere in the next round
Slovak Alex Molcan advanced to the quarter-finals of the Banja Luka Open by edging out Australian Alexei Popyrin 7-6 (4), 4-6, 7-5 at the Tennis Klub Mladost on Wednesday.
Molcan, ranked No 73, will play Serb Laslo Djere next.
Ahead of his victory, the Slovak defeated Japanese Taro Daniel (3-6, 7-5, 6-1).
Popyrin, ranked No 81, won against Dutchman Tallon Griekspoor, the No 5 seed (7-6 (4), 7-6 (4)) in the previous round of the Banja Luka tournament.
