Auckland Open: Giron beats Wolf in all-American clash

Marcos Giron will face the winner of the match between Czech qualifier Jiri Lehecka and second seed Cameron Norrie in the next round

In an all-American battle, Marcos Giron beat J.J. Wolf 6-4, 6-4 to advance to the quarter-finals of the Auckland Open at the ASB Tennis Centre on Wednesday.

Giron, ranked No 60, will face the winner of the match between Czech qualifier Jiri Lehecka and second seed Cameron Norrie next.

In the previous round of the Auckland tournament, Giron edged out Argentinian lucky loser Federico Coria (6-7 (5), 6-4, 7-5) while Wolf, ranked No 66, had beaten Frenchman Adrian Mannarino, the No 8 seed (6-4, 7-6 (4)).
