ATP Zhuhai Open confirms Medvedev, to schedule final on a Tuesday
This will be the second edition of the tournament with Australia’s Alex de Minaur winning the inaugural edition in 2019.
The Zhuhai Championships, an ATP 250 event, confirmed that Russia’s Daniil Medvedev will headline the tournament this year. This will be the first ATP Tour level event in China since 2019 and the break of the COVID-19 pandemic.
In a shift from the norm, the tournament will start on a Wednesday (September 20) and end on a Tuesday (September 26). That means the semi-finals of the tournament will be held on a Monday and the title match on a Tuesday
“I’m really looking forward to coming back to China and playing at the Hengqin International Tennis Center,” Medvedev said in a press release from the tournament. “I can’t wait to see the city and the stadium, both of which I have heard a lot of good things about. It will be great to play again in front of the Chinese fans again after three years away. I’m looking forward to seeing you all in September.”
