ATP rankings update: China’s Wu Yibing breaks top 100 for first time
The 23-year-old is the second Chinese man ever to make the top 100, following on from Zhang Zhizhen in 2022
First it was Zhang Zhizhen; now China has two men who have broken the world’s top 100.
Wu Yibing moved up 15 places in the latest ATP rankings to 97, thanks to his run to the final in the Cleveland Challenger Tour event.
The 23-year-old missed out on the title only in a deciding tiebreak, losing to Aleksandar Kovacevic, but his semi-final win over Tennys Sandgren was enough to ensure his place in the top 100.
Zhang became the first Chinese man in history to break into the top 100 in October 2022.
Roman Safiuillin hit a new career-high ranking of No 82 after winning the Challenger Tour title in Koblenz, moving him up 18 places.
No change in top 10 after Davis Cup week
With the Davis Cup week, there was no change in the ATP’s top 10, meaning Novak Djokovic extends his number of weeks at No 1 to 374.
Carlos Alcaraz, due to return from injury shortly, is 300 points behind in second spot.
