ATP Rankings: Medvedev remains at No 1 as Cerundolo and Cressy make big moves
Cerundolo and Cressy reach new career high ATP rankings after winning their first titles while Andy Murray is back in the top 50 for the first time in four years
Daniil Medvedev remained at the top of the latest ATP rankings released on Monday with the Russian beginning his eighth week at the world No 1 spot.
With most of the top players taking a break after Wimbledon, there is no change in the world’s top 15 this week, with Medvedev being followed by Alexander Zverev (No 2), Rafael Nadal (No 3), Stefanos Tsitsipas (No 4) and Casper Ruud (No 5).
Wimbledon champion Novak Djokovic remains at No 7 and could slide further down if he is unable to play in the United States or Canada in the coming weeks.
New career-high ATP rankings for Cerundolo and Cressy
The two players who picked up their first ATP singles titles on the weekend, Francisco Cerundolo and Maxime Cressy, make big gains in this week’s rankings to achieve new career-highs.
Cerundolo, who defeated Sebastian Baez in the Bastad final, jumps nine places to No 30 in the ATP rankings while Cressy, who came from a set and a break down to beat Alexander Bublik in the Newport final, climbs up eight spots to No 33.
Baez himself climbs two positions to a new career-high of No 32 while Bublik climbs three spots to No 39.
Former world No 1 Andy Murray, who reached the quarter-finals in Newport, moves up two positions to No 50. This marks the first time that Murray is back in the top 50 since May 2018.
Former US Open champion Dominic Thiem, who reached the quarters in Bastad after scoring his first ATP-level wins of the season, shoots 65 spots to No 274.
