Jack Draper may have been thwarted by Andrey Rublev in the Doha final on Saturday but the Briton is closing on a place in the world’s top 10, fast.

The 23-year-old enjoyed a superb week, including wins over Matteo Berrettini and Jiri Lehecka before being worn down in three by Rublev, who looked back to his best after some difficult months on and off the court.

Draper moves up four places to No 12, a new career-high. The left-hander won’t be playing this week in Dubai as he manages his schedule but he’ll be back on court in Indian Wells and Miami, where big points are at stake, which could potentially take him into the top 10 for the first time.

Berrettini, Muller on the rise

Rublev is the only mover inside the world’s top 10, climbing one spot to ninth, having won his first title since Madrid last year. Jannik Snner remains No 1, by a big margin, but with his three-month drugs ban keeping him off Tour until Rome, the chasing pack have the chance to close the gap.

Further down, Berrettini is up five places to No 30 after a good week in Doha, highlighted by his win over Novak Djokovic, while Alexandre Muller breaks the top 50 for the first time at No 49 after reaching the final in Rio.
