ATP rankings: Djokovic remains No 1 but Sinner lurks in the shadow
The Serb needs to reach the semi-finals in Paris to have a chance to remain at No 1 at the end of the French Open
Novak Djokovic remains the world’s top-ranked player in the latest ATP rankings released on Sunday as the French Open Grand Slam gets underway in Paris. The Serb begins his 427th week as world No 1 but his top spot is under threat from second-ranked Jannik Sinner.
If Djokovic does not reach the semi-finals in Paris, he will lose world No 1 ranking to Sinner, irrespective of how the Italian fares in Paris.
With only two ATP 250 events this week, there is no change in the world’s top 10 as seen below. Geneva champion Casper Ruud remains at No 7 but closes in on sixth-ranked Andrey Rublev.
ATP Tour top 10, as of May 27, 2024
- 1 Novak Djokovic: 9,960 points
- 2 Jannik Sinner: 8,770 points
- 3 Carlos Alcaraz: 7,300 points
- 4 Alexander Zverev: 6,305 points
- 5 Daniil Medvedev: 6,295 points

Outside the top 10, Frenchman Ugo Humbert climbs one spot to No 16 and Kazakh Alexander Bublik moves up two spots to No 17 while Chile’s Nicolas Jarry drops three spots to No 19.
Czech Republic’s Tomas Machac, who stunned Djokovic in the Geneva semi-finals en route to reaching the final before going down to Ruud in the final, climbs 10 spots to a new career-high of No 34.
Italy’s Luciano Darderi, aged 22, moves up seven spots to a new career-best No 40 after reaching the semi-finals in Lyon. Giovanni Mpetshi Perricard, the champion in Lyon, shoots up 51 spots to a new career-high of No 66.
Hugo Gaston, the 23-year-old from France, is another big mover this week – climbing 16 spots to No 88.
