ATP Brisbane: Wildcard Hijikata beats Machac in third set tiebreak to reach quarters

Australian wildcard Rinky Hijikata edged out qualifier Tomas Machac 5-7, 6-2, 7-6 (4) to advance to the quarter-finals of the Brisbane International on Thursday.
Hijikata, ranked No 71, will play Bulgarian Grigor Dimitrov, the second seed, next.
The 22-year-old Australian won against countryman Thanasi Kokkinakis (7-6 (8), 6-2) in the previous round while Machac, ranked No 78, edged out Argentinian Tomas Martin Etcheverry, the No 7 seed (6-7 (5), 7-5, 7-6 (1)).
