Czech Jiri Lehecka moved into the semi-finals of the Brisbane International by winning against Chilean Nicolas Jarry 6-4, 6-4 at the Queensland Tennis Centre on Friday.

This was Lehecka’s third win in four meetings against Jarry on the pro tour.

Lehecka, ranked No 28, will face the winner of the match between Australian Jordan Thompson, the No 8 seed, and Bulgarian Grigor Dimitrov, the second seed, for a spot in the final.

The Czech beat Dane Holger Rune, the No 3 seed (7-5, 6-3) and Japanese qualifier Yoshihito Nishioka (6-2, 6-7 (5), 6-4) in the previous rounds of the tournament.

Meanwhile, Jarry, ranked No 35, defeated Argentinian Mariano Navone (7-5, 7-6 (7)) and French qualifier Benjamin Bonzi (6-2, 6-3) earlier in the week.
