Spaniard Roberto Carballes Baena defeated Austrian Sebastian Ofner, the No 7 seed, 7-5, 6-3 to advance to the quarter-finals of the Auckland Open at the ASB Tennis Arena on Wednesday night.
Carballes Baena, ranked No 67, will face American Ben Shelton, the top seed, next.
Ahead of his victory, the Spaniard won against Roberto Bautista Agut (6-4, 6-3).
Ofner, ranked No 37, beat Canadian wildcard Denis Shapovalov (6-4, 6-2) in the previous round of the Auckland tournament.
